Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. GetResize processes your files inside your own browser. They never leave your device, so the tool is private and works fast even on slow connections.

Which image formats can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF. With “Same as original”, GIF and BMP are saved as PNG and AVIF as JPG (or PNG if it has transparent parts). For iPhone HEIC photos or TIFF scans, convert them first with HEIC to JPG or TIFF to JPG.

Does cropping reduce quality?

No. Pixels inside the crop area are kept exactly. Only JPG files are re-saved, at the quality you choose (92% by default is visually identical).

How do I crop to a square?

Choose “Square (1:1)” as the aspect ratio, then move the box over the part you want to keep.
